ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Interior Ministry on Tuesday announced four holidays for upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, a religious festival observed by Muslims to celebrate the conclusion of the month of fasting.

In a notification issued by the ministry on Tuesday, it was announced that holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr would be observed from July 05 to 08.

Eidul-Fitr is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramazan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.

On Saturday, the Director General of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Dr Ghulam Rasool said that Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan was likely to fall on July 6 as Shawwal moon was expected to be sighted on 29th of Ramazan (on the evening of July 05).

Meanwhile, the people hailing from different parts of the country have already started leaving for their home towns to celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with their loved ones with religious fervor and enthusiasm.

The government has directed the concerned federal and provincial departments to ensure due facilities to passengers and implement fix fares in letter and spirit.
