ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A total of 800 faithful has been registered for observing Aitekaf in Faisal Mosque starting from the afternoon of 20 Ramzan-ul-Mubarak (Sunday, June 26).
According to an official, the registration process was started in May and culminated recently.
Each faithful has deposited Rs 4,000 as fee for observing Aitekaf in Faisal Mosque.
He said, special arrangements have been made for the Motakafeen (Aitekaf observers) to impart them education about ‘Fiqhai’ problems besides lectures from religious scholars.
The worshippers will be provided Sehri and Iftari by the Dawah Academy.
But as a part of worship and regular practice during Ramzan, many philanthropists and common citizens send food items for Sehri and Iftari to the mosque for the poor and needy.
As many as 1,350 faithful had observed Aitekaf from twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad at Faisal Mosque last year.
Aitekaf sitting is a Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) and carries a multitude of blessings of the Allah Almighty.
Men observe Aitekaf in small cubicles, set up by hanging large cloth sheets inside mosques, whereas women observe it at any corner or quite place in the house which is not frequently visited by others.
Aitekaf is to spend last ten days of holy month of Ramzan in prayers to seek forgiveness and blessings of Allah Almighty, without leaving the worship place even once.
Hundreds of worshippers remained stationed at mosques for 10 consecutive days in connection with performing this religious duty called ‘Aitekaf.’
Meanwhile, the managements of Mosques of twin cities and Islamabad completed the registration process of ‘Motakafeen.’
The twin cities of Islamabad used to allocate places to the worshippers on the first come first served basis because of an ever increasing number of those willing to observe Aitekaf.
