ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The rain and dust-thunderstorm predicted by the weather experts for the next 24 hours will bring relief for the heat stricken faithful during the first Ashra of Ramzan.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), rain and dust-thunderstorm with strong gusty winds was expected at scattered places Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and Kashmir in evening time during the next 24 hours.

Rain and dust thunderstorm with strong gusty winds are likely in Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions, FATA, Islamabad and Kashmir while at few places in Malakand, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat divisions during night.

Hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country during the day time during the next 24 hours.

Dust raising winds are also likely in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Dera Ismail Khan, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Quetta, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas and Hyderabad divisions.

According to the synoptic situation, seasonal low was lying over north Balochistan with its trough extending south-eastwards.

Weak moist currents are penetrating in eastern parts of the country and likely to continue during next 24 hours.

Moderate moist currents are likely to enter eastern parts of the country during the weekend.

The rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours was Jhelum 17 mm, Murree 09, Mangla, Sialkot Cantt 03, Islamabad, Mandibahauddin, Gujranwala 02, Rawalpindi 01, Rawalakot 10, Muzaffarabad 09, Kotli, Garhi Dupatta 06 and Balakot 04 mm.

The highest maximum temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours was Jaccobabad 51 C, Dadu, Turbat, Shaheed Benazirabad 49 C, Sibbi 48 C, Rahim Yar Khan, Moenjodaro, Bahawalnagar, Sukkur 47 C and Larkana, Dalbandin, Padidan, Bhakkar, Rohri, Noorpurthal, Nokkundi and Bahawalpur 46 C.
