ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Thursday approved Rs3.94 per unit reduction in power tariff for April under monthly fuel adjustment formula.

The regulator approved the tariff reduction on a petition filed by Central Power Purchase Agency (CPPA). The hearing was presided over by Vice Chairman NEPRA Himayat Ullah Khan here.

However, the reduction would not be applicable to the consumers of K-Electric and those who used upto 300 units.

The relief would be given in billing of June. The average cost of per unit remained at Rs4.21 against the reference price of Rs7.62 per unit in April.

The CPPA on behalf of power distribution sought reduction in power tariff owing to reduce fuel prices.
