ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Ministry of Water and Power on Saturday said there was no unannounced loadshedding in any part of the country.

The ministry, in a statement, said normal predictable load management was of six hours in urban and eight hours in rural areas while zero load-shedding was being carried out by the DISCOs (distribution companies) for industries.

Areas with higher losses and theft were having higher load management hours according to the percentage of the losses, it added.

The ministry said it was constantly monitoring power position in the country and local faults were being rectified by special DISCOs teams on immediate basis.

It said power position at 0900 Saturday was Hydel 5,073 MW, Thermal 9,803MW and Wind= 186 MW.

Total electricity generation stood at around 14,876 MW while demand remained 18,200 MW, thus its shortfall was 3,324 MW.

Comparing the power generation in the month of June, it said in May 2013, power generation was 12,671 MW, in 2014 was 13,217 MW, 2015 was 14,121 MW. On May 20, 2016 it reached 16,044 MW.
