ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has so far completed the scrutiny of 7‚609 nomination papers for the elections, which include 2‚765 for the National Assemblies and 4‚844 for Provincial Assemblies, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on Tuesday.

The scrutiny process will be completed on April 7. The Election Commission said April 10 is the deadline for filing of appeals against decision of the Returning Officers rejecting or accepting the nomination papers.

The Election Tribunals will decide the appeals by April 17. The candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations by April 18. Final list of contesting candidates will be published on 19th April and polling will be held on May 11.

Meanwhile‚ the ECP has so far received 13‚136 nomination papers for the general seats of national and provincial assemblies.

Four thousand six hundred and eight nomination papers have been received for the National Assembly and eight thousand five hundred and twenty eight for four provincial assemblies.
