RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Commander Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan General John Nicholson called on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).General John Nicholson and General Raheel Sharif

In a press release, the ISPR said that during the meeting, matters of mutual interest including border coordination mechanism along Pakistan-Afghanistan border and security situation in Afghanistan were discussed.

The ISPR said that the visiting dignitary acknowledged the far reaching effects of anti-terrorism military operation Zarb-e-Azb and lauded the role of Pakistan Army for bringing peace and stability in the region.

In his remark, the COAS also thanked Commander of Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan and the Afghan security forces for recovery of Ali Haider Gilani, son of former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, in a successful operation in Afghanistan.
