ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has decided to send 103 families of Mina tragedy victims to Saudi Arabia for performing Umra on ministry’s expense.

Spokesman Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Noor Zaman told APP that one nominated person of the deceased or legal heir of Mina victims would be sent Saudi Arabia for a fortnight before Ramazan-ul-Mubarak.

Elaborating, he said every intending pilgrim is bound to write his or her nominated persons’ name as his or her legal heir in the Hajj form.

Responding to a question, he said the ministry will send only one nominated person on Umra, free of charge and in case of a women nominee her Mehram can perform Umra on his own expense.

In Mina tragedy, 103 Pakistanis had been killed.The government had already compensated most of the victim families, he said.

The families of Mina tragedy victims will be sent to Saudi Arabia next month on (fortnight tour) 15 days and 14 nights stay in Saudia for performing Umra.

He said the ministry has already sought expression of interests from the registered Umra firms by May 9. The interested firms should have the experience of sending at least 15,000 Umra Zairain to Saudi Arabia last year.

The interest firm should submit Rs 100 stamp paper pledging that the firm is not black listed of any banks and Saudi service providing companies.
