ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Sri Lankan High Commissioner Major General (retd) Jayanath Lokuketagodag Wednesday reiterated his country’s commitment to enhance trade and investment ties with Pakistan.

“We are committed to enhance the trade volume with Pakistan,” he said and extended his country’s support for the business community to promote mutual trade and investment opportunities.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of Pakistan-Sri Lanka Friendship Trade and Investment Association here, the High Commissioner said economic integration and regional trade connectivity was must for the economic growth, shared prosperity and stability of the region.

He said the history of diplomatic, economic, trade and cultural relations between the two countries spanned over decades.

President of Pakistan-Sri Lanka Friendship Trade and Investment Association Khaliq Rabbani stressed the need for enhancing the trade between the two countries to $1 billion.

There was need to enhance cooperation in multifaceted areas, he added.
