EducationKPK govt to increase use of IT in education sector: Minister

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Atif Khan said on Monday that provincial government was striving hard to increase the use of Information Technology (IT) in the education sector.

He said IT education was the basic need of every sector in this modern era but its importance particularly in the education sector was the need of hour.

He expressed these views while talking to participants of PTCL team in a meeting here. The meeting discussed the establishment of 500 IT Labs in government schools of the province, while it also reviewed the use of services of PTCL in this regard.

Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Afzal Latif and other concerned also attended the meeting.

The Minister said that better use of IT expertise in education sector would bring visible change in the system and will ensure the attendance of teachers and students, being a major problem of government schools.

Atif Khan said to give pen in the hands of every child of the province was the mission of Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf government and for the purpose, the government had evolved a survey programme to go to each and every house to ascertain the real number of children not willing to go to schools.

He said short, medium and long term steps were being introduced to improve education sector on emergent basis, adding that serious efforts were being taken to introduce digital literacy and in this regard, agreements were being finalized with IT companies.

He said from the new academic year, 500 IT Labs would formally be initiated and in this connection, he added Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak were taking keen interest.

“There was no scarcity of funds for education sector, therefore, no excuse would be accepted in delaying the schemes of this sector,” he said.
