PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Special Assistant to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister for Information and Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani Saturday said that the provincial government was taking serious steps to upgrade the standard of government colleges into model colleges and all demands and needs in this connection would be fulfilled.

Speaking as a chief guest in the convocation of Government postgraduate college Abbottabad, he said that convocation was a special day in the academic calendar of any institution; it marks the culmination of a phase of learning.

Students had to be an important part of the nation building process through their respective capabilities that they had acquired in their institution, he added.

He said that educational system was being reformed so that the children of common man could also achieve lucrative opportunities in the society.

He said, during his recent visit to Austria, he was agreed to link Haripur University with 5 best universities of Austria, adding that after the success of this plan, the same would be replicated to other universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said the provincial government was fully committed to bring positive change in all sector and remarkable steps had been taken for the development and prosperity of the province.

“We have assured merit based system as the core values for the development of our institution, the educational institutions and universities of the province are being strengthened to conduct cutting edge research on issues faced by our society” he said adding that in this regard the solutions provided by such research must be cost effective and sustainable, he added.
