ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A two-day weekly book bazaar concluded on Saturday here at Pakistan Aademy of Letters (PAL).

Chairman PAL Prof Dr Muhammad Qasim Bhoghio said that the Academy was making efforts to promote book reading culture in the country.

He said that books on various subjects including science, literature, history, languages, novel, short stories and magazines were available at weekly book bazaar on discount prices.

He said that students and general public was invited to get books of their choice on discount rates from the weekly book bazaar.

Chairman PAL said that Faiz Ahmed Faraz Library at Academy also remain open on weekends to facilitate book readers and researchers.

He said students, book readers and researchers could better utilize their off days from offices and educational institutions at the library.

Dr. Qasim Bughio said the Faiz library housed around 70,000 volumes of 30,000 books on different topics, including from literature, history, philosophy, science etc. in Urdu, Pashtu, Sindhi, Baloch, Punjabi, Hindko and other regional languages, besides foreign languages including English.

According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
