SIALKOT, Pakistan: The Russian ambassador to Pakistan Alexey Y. Dedov on Thursday met leading traders, industrialists and businessmen of Gujrat as part of his proactive role in promoting Pakistan-Russia trade cooperation.
It has been observed that the Russian envoy continues to meet various members of business community of Punjab for enhancing Russian trade in Pakistan, and in this regard, he now held meetings with the traders and business community of Gujrat, one of country’s major industrial cities.
Earlier on Wednesday, Alex Dedov visited the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), City’s leading Industrial Units and Sialkot International Airport.
During his visit at the SCCI, the Russian envoy discussed in details the matters of mutual interest with the SCCI officials.
The envoy also gave a detailed briefing about the growing mutual trade opportunities in Russia and scope of joint ventures in different trade sectors between Russia and Pakistan.
Talking to exporters on the occasion, the Russian envoy said that his country wanted to develop strong mutual trade relations with Pakistan. He also stressed the need for boosting interaction between the private sectors of Pakistan and Russia.
The Russian ambassador also undertook a visit to the Sialkot International Airport where he was briefed by the airport Chief Executive Haider Khan Hoti about the airport and efforts of the local businessmen in this regard. Alexey Dedov appreciated the role of local businessmen for the construction of Sialkot International Airport. President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Maj. (Retd) Mansur Ahmed, SVP Muhammad Sarfraz Butt and Chairman Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) Malik Muhammad Ashraf were accompanying the Ambassador.
Alexey Dedov said Russia is intending to boost mutual trade ties with Pakistan besides making all out efforts to remove hurdles in way of strengthening trade between the two countries. Russian Ambassador witnessed production process of the sports goods and appreciated international standard craftsmanship of Sialkot based artisans.
Prior to that, the Russian envoy also held separate discussions with the officials at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Lahore Chamber of Commerce.
