Education200 federal public schools, colleges to be upgraded: Dr Tariq Fazal

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary Tuesday said that 200 schools and colleges of the federal capital would be upgraded within 6 to 8 months in the next phase under Prime Minister Education Reforms program.

Addressing a Qirat and Naat competition ceremony at Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) F/7-2, he said that in first phase the structure of the 22 public educational institutions have been completed.

Besides structure, the minister of state said that new teachers would also be hired according to the need of the institutions.

He added training program for capital’s teaching staff would be started soon to improve the quality of education.

He said that the country was facing numerous difficulties only because of the lack of education but now the government has decided to promote the education sector on priority basis.

The past governments, he said, did not pay full attention on the education sector adding that the present government of PML-N was working practically for the promotion of this sector in the country.

Tariq Fazal said that in the last phase of the education reforms program, remaining 200 schools and colleges would be up-graded.

The minister said “We have planned to up-grade Islamabad Model College for Girls F/7-2 into the university and in this regard a comprehensive work has been completed.”

He said that besides education the federal government was also focusing on health sector and added, in this regard all hospitals of the capital would be up-graded.

Meanwhile talking to APP, Tariq Fazal informed that the name of the new Chairman of Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) would be finalized in few days.

To a question, the state minister said before taking a decision to open new educational institutions in the capital, first of all old schools would be renovated.

Leader Pakistan Muslim League (N) congratulated the students participated in the competition and distributed prizes among the winners.

He also congratulated the Principal of the college Talat Samiullah for holding such a good competition.
