ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Uzbekistan Airways will resume its flights from Tashkent to Lahore from July 20, 2016.

The development was made possible by the efforts of Uzbek Envoy in Islamabad Furkat Sadiqov as he is very keen to bring the two brotherly countries closer to each other in all field of life.

Sources said that the Director Tourism from the Holidays Planners, the company which is serving as GSA for Uzbekistan Airways in Pakistan, Mr Hamid Mahmood had a meeting with the officials from Uzbekistan Airways in Tashkent and it was decided that there would be two flights a week from Lahore to Tashkent starting from July 20. The number of flights can be increased in future.

The Chief Executive of Holiday Planners Mr Naeem said that flights will not only carry travelers to different destination around the world from Pakistan but also give Pakistani businessmen opportunities to explore the market for their products in Central Asia.

Mr Naeem said that Uzbekistan was the favorite destination for Pakistan tourists and they hope in coming days tourism will improve between the two countries.

Describing it a positive development, the experts have said that the Tashkent-Lahore flight was necessary for Pakistan and Uzbekistan. They said that resuming of flights between Tashkent and Lahore will open the door for both the countries to get most benefit from each other expertise in the field of economic, energy, trade and tourism.
