Iranian Ambassador calls on Pervaiz Rashid

Islamabad, Pakistan: Senator Pervaiz Rashid Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage has said that reducing energy deficit  is amongst the top most priority of the present democratic government and his country would like to explore various avenues to bridge this gap including import of electricity and gas from Iran.

He stated this in a meeting with Mehdi Honardoost, the Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran who called on him here today. Senator Pervaiz Rashid,Federal Minister for IB&NH said that Pakistan highly values its fraternal ties with Iran and considers it a close friend and neighbor with whom we have traditionally enjoyed cordial relations. Pakistan, he said also welcomed the implementation of nuclear deal between Iran and P5+1 as we consistently maintained that Iran’s nuclear issue should be resolved peacefully through dialogue.

He said that the implementation of the deal will not only facilitate promotion of peace, stability and prosperity in the region but would also provide an opportunity to both Pakistan and Iran to expand their cooperation in the areas of trade, investment and energy. The Ambassador during the  meeting with Information Minister discussed matters of mutual interest particularly cooperation in the field of media, information and culture.

Senator Pervaiz Rashid  said  that people to people contact  would be encouraged  through exchange of  delegations to further strengthen historical, cultural, religious, linguistic and bilateral ties between Pakistan and Iran Mehdi Honardoost, the Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran also assured the Minister of his cooperation and said that Iran is keen to further strengthen the relations with Pakistan which are mutually beneficial to the people of both countries.
