ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Thursday accepted the resignation of Chairman Pakistan International Airlines Nasir Jafar, a spokesperson of the PM House said.

The Chairman of the national flag carrier had tendered his resignation following the nationwide strike by its workers, against the proposed privatization of the airline.

According to the PM House Spokesperson the Secretary Aviation has been given the additional charge of the airline.

PIA sources said the airline has suffered losses of billions owing to cancellation of hundreds of domestic and international flights in the past two days.
