KARACHI, Pakistan: Sindh Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that in current month so far 39 children under five years have died while 390 patients having been treated in six government hospitals of Tharparkar had been discharged.
He said that Sindh Government is committed to provide better health facilities in Thar and it is unfortunate enough that media is exaggerating number of deaths in Thar.
This he said while talking to media here in Sindh Assembly, said a statement on Monday.
He said that during current month three children died due to pre-term birth, seven children died due to birth asphyxia, three died due to pneumonia, 12 died due to neo natal sepsis while other 10 died due to various causes.
The Health Minister added on January 25, 114 children were admitted in Civil Hospital Mithi, out of which two died while two seriously ill children were referred to Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, 11 children admitted in Diplo, 47 in Nagarparkar and 14 were admitted in Chachro, out of which 4 seriously ill children referred to Civil Hospital Hyderabad.
He said that right now in Mithi, Diplo, Nagarparkar and Chachro, 109 children were under treatment and all possible medical facilities were being provided to them.
While replying to a question he said that in January almost 390 patients were treated.
Among them 210 were male, 87 were female and 93 children were under 5 years.
The Health Minister said that Health Department was utilizing its all resources to provide health facilities to the patients.
Adequate funds had been provided to DHO concerned for fuel and maintenance of ambulances to transport patients from Tharparkar to Hyderabad, he said.
