EducationAIOU introduces "fee installment scheme" to facilitate needy students

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) being a public sector university considers its paramount duty to provide educational facilities to all segments of society across the board.

It is being ensured that nobody should be left of educational facility because of financial constraints, in order to accommodate all the poor and needy students, the University has introduced “fee installment scheme”.

It was stated by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui while presiding over a meeting about finalizing the students facilities for the forthcoming admissions scheduled to be started from February 1 next.

Under the scheme, the poor and deserve students around the country who were unable to deposit the whole fee of the semester could take benefit from this scheme.

To get benefitted from the scheme, the needy students are hereby advised to contact the nearest Regional Campus of the University.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Shahid said that sufficient amount has already been allocated to support its poor and needy students through scholarships and fee-concession.

He hoped that maximum number of continuing and fresh students will take benefit of it. The University has recently taken various initiatives to expand and improve its academic network bringing maximum number of students in its educational network.

“We wish to provide quality education to the people of all ages at their door-steps through distance or online learning system”, he added.

AIOU, he said also provides fee concession to natural disaster’s affected and fee exemption for the students of flood-hit regions.

They are given relief in their annual fee as well as in shape of scholarships, enabling them to continue their study.

Under Financial Support Scheme, the poor students were given fee concession by 50%. The beneficiaries of these will include all those who are unable to meet educational expenses and deserved financial support.

Through these schemes, financial support will be provided to the poor and needy students, enabling them to meet their educational expenses.

It was decided to broaden the scope of its existing students support fund scheme to cover the maximum number of the needy students, giving relaxation in their fee and encouraging them to continue their future study.

Dr Shahid Siddiqui has directed the Director Admissions and Regional Directors of 44-AIOU Regional offices across the country to provide maximum facilities to the applicants for sacking admission as well as ensuring availability of admission forms at nearest places.

He also advised all Regional Directors to set up special camp at their offices for the guidance of the students. He assured the applicants that their proposals and complaints will be properly addressed.
