PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak and Senior Minister for Local Government Inayatullah here on Monday jointly inaugurated Bab-e-Peshawar flyover project, second level-2 flyover in the country after Karachi completed in record five months time at a cost of Rs.1.72 billion that would regulate traffic flow on Pak-Afghan highway.

The historic flyover was inaugurated at an impressive ceremony arranged by the National Logistic Cell (NLC) Phase-3 Chowk Hayatabad.

The ceremony was attended among others by PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Amir Jamaat Islami Sirjaul Haq, members of the parliament, Speaker KP Assembly Asad Qaisar, provincial ministers, Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan, DG NLC Brigadier Faisal Mushtaq, DG PDA Salim Hassan Watto and high ranking officials of the provincial bureaucracy.

The Chief Minister and KPK Senior Minister formally unveiled the plaque among thunderous applause by the people and later drove on the flyover.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister while congratulating the people of Peshawar over the inauguration of the gigantic flyover said that, we have started reviving the lost glory of the provincial capital.

He said KPK government has started Rs 29 billion mega projects in the provincial capital under Peshawar Uplift and Beautification Plan. Construction work on all the roads in Peshawar was underway, saying we will fulfill the promise of making ‘Peshawar Clean and Green’ under a comprehensive and well-coordinated corruption free system.

He also recounted achievements of his government during last two and a half years and said that all kind of encroachment have been removed without succumbing to any pressure. Moreover better health management has been introduced in the public sector hospitals. He claimed to have made clean Peshawar by ninety percent while the remaining ten percent would be cleaned in the coming years.

To lessen traffic burden on the intercity roads, the Chief Minister said the all the missing links would be constructed. Work on establishment Zoo in Peshawar would also commence shortly he told the audience. The KP government would utilize the available resources on the betterment of the masses.

He urged the federal government to provide the funds pledged by it for the construction of projects in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He complained that the federal government was delaying the provision of funds for the projects in the KP including the Takhtbai flyover.

Addressing the ceremony the senior KP Minister for LG&RDD Inayatyullah termed the flyover as a gift for the people of Peshawar, The face of Peshawar is being changed with fast pace as green belts, parks are being constructed in every nook and corner of the provincial capital.

Rs 29 billion projects are underway in Peshawar, he said adding, we have even revived sick projects including construction of Mufti Mehmud Flyover. He said similar nature three/four more development projects would be inaugurated shortly.

The function was also addressed by PTI Chief Imran Khan, JI Amir Sirajul Haq, DG PDA Saleem Hassan Watto.
