QUETTA, Pakistan: An improvised explosive device (IED) went off in Balochistan’s Capital on Monday, leaving at least five security personnel dead and two others injured.

The security sources said that the blast took place in Margat suburb area of Quetta where the IED planted along the roadside hit a vehicle of security forces which was on patrolling.

The sources said that it was not revealed yet as who planted the IED as no group immediately claimed responsibility for the blast. They further said that explosives were detonated through a remote control.

Meanwhile, the dead bodies and injured person were shifted to a nearby hospital while the security forces cordoned off the area and began an investigation into the incident.

In a statement, President Mamnoon Hussain condemned terrorist incident in Quetta and paid tribute to the martyred security personnel in the incident and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.

The president said that such incidents cannot deter the resolve of the nation against terrorism.
