RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza on Saturday expressed satisfaction over the arrangements carried out by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to conduct polling for local government elections in parts of Punjab and Sindh.

During his visit to the polling station at Divisional Public School here, he told reporters that ECP has carried out elaborative arrangements to conduct polling in fair, free and transparent manner. While, he said, civil administration had been assisting the election commission to conduct polling process in peaceful manner.

“I am satisfied with the arrangements being carried out by the Election Commission for conduct of the polling process and all the polling staff has been directed to strictly adhere to the rules of election commission for smooth conduct of the process,” he said.

Earlier, Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed briefed the Chief Election Commissioner on the security arrangements carried out by the civil administration for conduct of the polling process in transparent and smooth manner.

Secretary Election Commission Babar Yaqoob on the occasion apprised that polling at all the polling stations had started according to schedule.

District Coordination Officer Rawalpindi and senior officials of Election Commission and police were also present.

Meanwhile, the third and final phase of local government elections in 12 districts of Punjab and 6 of Sindh is being held today.

The polling process which started at 7:30 am will continue till 5:30 pm without any break.

In Punjab, polling will be held in Layyah, Rajanpur, D G Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rawalpindi, Jhang, Khushab, Multan, Sialkot, Narowal, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur districts.

In Sindh, polling will be held in Karachi West, Karachi East, Karachi South, Karachi Central, Korangi and Malir.
