LAHORE, Pakistan: The 972nd Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri, also known as Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), began in Lahore with religious zeal, fervour and reverence on Tuesday.
The three-day celebrations formally started with the annual ritual of ghusal of the shrine. A large number of devotees and faithful visited the shrine of the Sufi saint to offer prayers, reported PTV News.
Federal Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Ishaq Dar, Punjab Auqaf and Religious Affairs Minister Mian Atta Muhammad Maneka, Food Minister Bilal Yasin and cricket legend Javaid Mian Dad also attended the ceremony.
On the occasion, special prayers were offered for peace, prosperity and solidarity of the country. The ceremony was held amid tight security and volunteers of Data Darbar performed duties along with police to frisk visitors.
On the first day, a large number of devotees from different areas of the country visited the shrine. On the other side, devotees distributed various foods items among the visitors.
