Education4727 dangerous school buildings in Punjab to be reconstructed

LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab government has started reconstruction of 4727 dangerous buildings of primary, middle and higher secondary schools in various areas of the province with the aim to provide safe and conducive environment to the students.

Under the project, an amount of Rs 8519 million was earmarked in the provincial budget which would be spent through building department. As many as 859 completely “unfit to live” schools and 3868 partially dangerous buildings would be reconstructed and rehabilitated in the current year.

   

The Punjab government took this initiative in 2014 and completed the rehabilitation of 400 dangerous and 300 flood/disaster affected buildings of schools across the province.

It may be mention here that Punjab earmarked an amount of Rs 33 billion for various development and regular schemes of Schools Education Department in 2015-16.
