Over 300 Pakistani shells fired into Afghan territory in last two days: Afghan official

KABUL: At least one Afghan civilian was killed while 14 others sustained injuries in the cross-border shelling from Pakistan, alleged General Abdul Habib Syed Khel, the security chief in Afghanistan’s northeastern province of Kunar.

The provincial security chief said that more than 300 rockets were fired from the Pakistani side of the border during the past two days and landed in Shegal and Dangam districts. He said that causalities due to the cross-border shelling occurred in the Shegal district. He further said that 20 families were also forced to leave their homes.

The media reports said that the local authorities called on Afghanistan’s interior and foreign affairs ministries to take immediate measures in an effort to halt the cross-border shelling.
