ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As many as 109 persons have been killed while 46 have sustained injuries in heavy rain and flood-related incidents in various parts of the country, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

The NDMA said that 50 persons have died due to floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 21 in Punjab, 19 in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, 14 in Balochistan and 5 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Besides, the floods also damaged 2070 house and affected 1834 villages and 699039 persons all over the country.

Meanwhile, the relief and rehabilitation operation is underway with the coordinated efforts of the NDMA, armed forces and the federal and provincial governments.

Under the relief operation, 33596 tents have been provided to the flood victims while other relief goods include 2008 tons of ration, 1500 tarpaulins and 8467 blankets.

The authority said that 472 relief camps and 150 medical camps have also been set up for the affectees.

Besides, 294 rescue boats, 1150 life jackets and 100 life rings have also been provided for the rescue of the stranded people.

Meanwhile, widespread rain again occurred in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, the Federal Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA), Islamabad and Kashmir on Saturday.

The scattered rain was also reported from Zhob, Quetta divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The officials said that the rain is likely to caused flash floods in the rivers and Nullahs across the country. They have asked people to remain vigilant of the latest situation to avoid any danger.
