RAWALPINDI: At least 25 more foreign and local militants have been killed in the ongoing military operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ against the militants in the North Waziristan tribal region, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.

   

The ISPR said that six militant hideouts including a training camp and an improvised explosive device (IED) making factory around Hasokhel area of North Waziristan were also destroyed by jet aircrafts on early Tuesday morning.

The media wing of Pakistan army said that the operation in North Waziristan agency is progressing as per plan. It said that the cordon around all militant hideouts including in the town of Mirali and Miranshah has been further tightened and reinforced.

Last night, three militants were killed while fleeing from the cordoned off area in Miranshah, the ISPR said, adding that one soldier sustained injuries in an exchange of fire.

The ISPR said that no operation in built up area has been started so far to ensure that no terrorist can escape the cordon and all innocent civil population is safely evacuated after their detailed verification.

It further said that necessary logistics and administrative arrangements for internally displaced persons (IDPs) have been completed by the political administration and disaster management agency.

Moreover, the security of IDP camp is being ensured by the army troops while air surveillance of the operational area with the help of own surveillance assets continues.
