Taliban have no more capacity to carry out attacks: ISPR

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa said on Monday that the Taliban have no more capacity to carry out terrorist attacks due to the military operation Zarb-e-Azb.

In an interview with the BBC, the DG ISPR said that the second-level leadership of the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been either killed or arrested during the operation.

The DG ISPR said that the Taliban are carrying out sporadic attacks after dismantling of their network. He said that the impression that militants are again raising their head is not correct.

Bajwa said that the North Waziristan operation dealt a severe blow to militants, adding that the operation Zarb-e-Azb is proceeding ahead successfully.

The Director General ISPR further said that the Pakistan Army is not involved in politics nor is it supporting a particular faction during the current crisis.
