RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: One Pakistan Army Soldier embraced martyrdom in a cross-border firing from Afghanistan, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ISPR said that on September 19, terrorists from inside Afghanistan across the international border, opened fire on Pakistani troops in Dwatoi area of North Waziristan District.

The ISPR said that own troops responded in a befitting manner, adding that as per credible intelligence reports, due to fire of own troops, terrorists suffered heavy casualties.

However, during the fire exchange, 34-year-old Sepoy Nazar Muhammad – resident of Jaffarabad – having fought gallantly, embraced shahadat.

The ISPR said that Pakistan strongly condemns the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for activities against Pakistan and expects that the Interim Afghan government will not allow conduct of such activities, in future.

It said that Pakistan Army is determined to defend Pakistan’s borders against the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.
