RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Pakistan army troops killed a terrorist in Kanniguram area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s South Waziristan district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

However, a Pakistan army soldier also embraced martyrdom in the fight with terrorists.

In a statement on Wednesday, the ISPR said that on the night 17/18 August 2021, Pakistan Military post observed and engaged move of terrorists in Kanniguram area, resulting in an intense exchange of fire.

The ISPR said that one of the terrorists was killed in the exchange of fire; however, 42-year-old Pakistan army Naib Subedar Sonay Zai also got critically injured.

Later, Naib Subedar Sonay Zai, who was a resident of Darazinda area of Dera Ismail Khan district, embraced shahadat.

The ISPR said that the search of the area is in progress to eliminate any terrorists found.

“Pakistan army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR said.
