RAWALPINDI: Terrorists will be chased and hunted down across the country, says General Raheel Sharif.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Monday vowed that with unflinching national resolve and clear direction, we will accomplish our mission and rid Pakistan of the scourge of terrorism, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The army chief made these remarks while talking to troops during his visit on the frontlines in the North Waziristan tribal region on Monday.

During the visit, the COAS was given a detailed briefing by General Officer Commanding on the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb.

Talking to valiant troops in the middle of operation in Miranshah, the army chief lauded them for their courage, dedication and high state of morale and expressed his satisfaction over the progress achieved so far since start of the operation.

The COAS commended the entire chain of command for their determined efforts in planning, preparation, mobilization and execution of the operation.

General Raheel once again emphasized on the officers and men to eliminate all local and foreign terrorists and their sanctuaries.

The ISPR said that alluding to the end objective, the COAS affirmed that terrorists will be chased and hunted down across the country till their final elimination.

The army chief acknowledged and appreciated the support of the entire nation and vowed that Inshallah with unflinching national resolve and clear direction, we will accomplish our mission and rid Pakistan of the scourge of terrorism. He specially paid rich tributes to Shuhada and wounded.

Paying tribute to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) for their sacrifices to restore writ of the state, the COAS acknowledged the national spirit and support forthcoming for them from across the country.

The COAS re-affirmed that the army will not abandon tribal brethren in their hour of need and all possible assistance will be rendered to the government and various organizations in bringing them maximum relief. The COAS also assured of army’s role in rebuilding and restoring normalcy in the restive North Waziristan agency.

Earlier on his arrival at Miranshah, the COAS was received by Lieutenant General Khalid Rabbani, Corps commander Peshawar.
