BANNU: A total of 572,200 internally displaced persons (IDPs) of the North Waziristan tribal region have so far been registered at Bannu camp in the wake of military operation, the Commissioner Bannu Syed Mohsin Ali said.

In a media briefing in Bannu on Friday about the relief activities being carried out for the displaced families, the Commissioner Bannu said that about Rs300 million have so far been distributed amongst the IDPs.

The Commissioner Bannu said that three registration centers have been set up for the registration of the IDPs which will continue to function till the registration of last displaced person.

The commissioner said that 50 trucks from the Punjab government and 20 trucks from the Imran Khan Foundation of relief goods have also reached for the IDPs.

Brigadier Aftab Ahmad said that 11 centers have been established for the distribution of relief goods and ration amongst the displaced families. He said that a ration bag weighing 110 kilogram is being given to each displaced family.

Brigadier Aftab said that 5,000 ration bags are daily being distributed in the camps, adding that so far ration has been distributed amongst 44,000 families. He said that free of cost SIMS are being given to the displaced families for the distribution of relief goods.

In addition, he said that vocational institutes have been set up for the training of women. He said that schools and parks are also being established for the children. He further said that 3,779 affectees have been provided with medical treatment.
