KARACHI: Funeral prayers of Zafar Baloch the banned Lyari Aman Committee leader offered on Thursday as the old city area remained shut to mourn his death amid tension.

Earlier, Lyari Aman Committee leader Zafar Baloch killed along with his security guard when unknown gunmen opened fire on his vehicle at Bizenjo Chowk in Karachi on Wednesday night.

The sources said that eight unidentified gunmen riding on four motorcycles opened fire on Zafar Baloch’s vehicle at Bizenjo Chowk on Wednesday night and managed to flee. Baloch taken to a hospital for treatment but he succumbed to his injuries.

Tension and fear gripped Lyari after the attack as shops and business centers were immediately closed.

Thousands of people attended Baloch’s funerals in Lyari’s football ground this morning. He will be laid to rest in Mewa Shah graveyard.
