NewsUzbekistan to launch Electronic Visa Issuance System

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan: Uzbekistan plans to launch an Electronic Visa Issuance System (E-Visa) by the end of this summer, which will allow to depart from the outdated procedure with the upholding of queues at the Embassy.

Now travelers can submit all documents and questionnaires via the Internet and receive a positive or negative answer in a short time.

The issuance of E-Visa to foreign citizens will be carried out at the airports of the Country on the basis of their written applications filed in the process of processing the documents. All payments for obtaining an electronic visa can be made with the help of international payment systems Visa and MasterCard.

“Acquisition and installation of necessary equipment, development of special software products, as well as conducting test tests using the infrastructure of the existing biometric passport system of Uzbekistan is planned to be completed this summer,” the State Committee for Tourism said.

Today, this system is already functioning in many countries. In particular, it has proved itself well in Azerbaijan and Georgia, therefore their experience will be studied when implementing this technology in Uzbekistan.

Last summer, a similar system was launched in neighboring Tajikistan.

It should be noted that over the first six months of last year, over 1.1 million tourists visited Uzbekistan, which is 18% more than in the same period in 2016. At the same time, export of tourist services reached 694.5 million dollars.
