Russian cross-border crimes in the Donbass region against Ukraine are documented and transferred to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.

This was reported by employees of the non-governmental human rights organization Truth Hounds.

“The report includes attacks against Ukraine from the territory of the Russian Federation. The illegal use of artillery and heavy infantry weapons, tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, machine guns, grenade launchers, mortars and sniper rifles was noted by terrorists. Documented by the construction of military camps, illegal crossing of the border by the Russians, the receipt of military equipment in the occupied territories,” said the researcher, the documentary war crimes Roman Avramenko.

“To collect information from September 2015 to September 2017 carried out 24 field missions in the conflict zone in the Donbass, visited 39 settlements and interviewed 297 witnesses,” said Avramenko.

Experts noted that the world is often mistaken in the conflict on the territory of the Donbass perceive as internal. Therefore, the organization tries to prove through documentation of Russia’s cross-border attacks, the conflict is international armed.

In addition, experts noted that the report includes verified eyewitness accounts.

According to experts, 208 cases of attacks against the civilian population in the occupied territories and civilian infrastructure were recorded. As a result, 100 people were killed and 163 civilians were wounded.

“Non-state armed groups, the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Republic of Germany – regularly deployed military equipment and live force on the outskirts or inside civilian objects and densely populated civil areas,” the report said.

It is noted that the organization transmitted the documented crimes of the Russian Federation to the ICC on December 18, 2017.

The authors of the report also noted that the civilian population was often used as a “human shield”.
