Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on Tuesday that Iran has extended an invitation to Russian companies to take part in the development of a number of its domestic oil and gas fields.

In a meeting held between Russian Energy Minister and Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi as part of the Russian-Iranian Commission on Trade and Economic cooperation on Tuesday, it was agreed that the Islamic Republic would bring possible modification in the Iranian legislation to enable Russian companies to get stakes in mineral extraction projects in Iran.

During the meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister lauded the expansion of ties between the two countries.
