Kyiv, Ukraine: Volodymyr Zelensky has won Presidential Election of Ukraine in runoff elections. Guardian reports that Zelenskiy had won 73% of the vote and that Poroshenko had won just 25% of the vote.
The runoff fight was between incumbent President Petro Poroshenko and Volodymyr Zelensky—a novice in politics who defeated Poroshenko with unexpected margin in first round of election. Zelensky got around 30 percent of total polled votes in first round of election while Poroshenko could manage only around 15 percent.
Ukraine had gone through worst economic and geographical turbulences since Euromaidan Revolution or Revolution of Dignity took place that actually resulted division of country into three parts with crumbling economy and unchecked aggression of Russia without any practical support from United States and European Union.
Today, polling started at 0800 hours Kyiv time for 12 hours polling. The voting took place in 200 constituencies where 29,982 election booths (commissions) had been installed.
International media made Zelensky as laughing stock and punching pad for taunting spree but he got unexpected votes in first round of elections. International media portrayed him negatively that he has no experience in politics and this point actually went in his favour his supporters say that US President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron also had no experiences of politics and they both are doing well.
After Zelensky won first round of elections, international media as well as certain national state controlled media claimed that Zelensky is secret agent of Russia and his campaign is sponsored by Russian President Putin.
Poroshenko campaign had three important tools or slogans— Army—Language—Faith while Zelensky who is of Jewish descent said that religion is a personal matter and plays no part in his campaign.
Poroshenko positioned himself as the only politician able to take on Russian President Vladimir Putin while supporters of Zelensky say that war claimed around 13,000 lives, divided country into three parts, depreciated currency, increased gas and electricity prices, finished subsidies and threw people into extreme poverty.
Zelensky indicates that war in East should be an end but with honour for Ukrainians because nation have paid a very high price for joining Europe and its path is clear.
