Monitoring Desk: Seven NATO/US soldiers were wounded by Afghan soldiers on Saturday at Shaheen Camp Mazar-i-Shariff in northern Balkh province.

Taliban claims responsibility claiming that an Afghan commando participating in the joint operations killed three US soldiers but Afghan and US officials claimed that seven US soldiers were wounded not dead.

Press office of Operation Resolution Support denies killing of any US or NATO soldier while Kabul based Afghan news agency Pajhwok Afghan News reports that four NATO soldiers were killed in this attack.

The US based Military News while referring press office of Operation Resolution Support reports that one Afghan soldier was killed and another was wounded in the attack that occurred around 2 p.m. at Camp Shaheen in Mazar-i-Sharif in Balkh Province.

This is second attack on US soldiers by Afghan soldiers in one week as three US soldiers were killed and two others were critically wounded by an Afghan Army soldier in Achin district of Nangarhar Afghanistan on June 10, 2017

Afghan news agency Pajhwok Afghan News claims that four NATO soldiers were killed in attack by an Afghan soldier in northern Balkh province.

“Four foreign soldiers were injured in attack and Ministry of Defense is investigating”, said Abdul Qhahar Aram who heads strategic communication and public affairs for the 209 Shahin Corps. However he did not share nationalities of the injured soldiers with media persons.

Meanwhile, an US military spokesman for the US military command in Kabul denied reports that Americans had been killed, but confirmed that an unspecified number of soldiers had been wounded at Camp Shaheen.

According to initial reports attack by Afghan soldier took place at Camp Shaheen. The US military command reportedly said that they were “aware of an incident”

Shaheen Camp is situated near city of Mazar-i-Shariff, houses 209th Corps. It is pertinent to mentioned that Camp Shaheen that is headquarters of the 209 Corps of the Afghan National Army (ANA) and was attacked by Taliban on 21 April 2017, resulting massacre of over 140 Afghan soldiers while over 170 were critically wounded.

It may be mentioned that three US soldiers were killed and two others were critically wounded by an Afghan Army commando in Achin district of Nangarhar Afghanistan on June 10, 2017. Taliban took responsibility of the incident and said that Afghan soldier who killed US soldiers belonged to Taliban group.
