WorldNarendra Modi to receive UAE’s Highest Civilian Award 'Order of Zayed'

NEW DELHI, Indian: The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will receive the UAE’s Highest Civilian Award ‘Order of Zayed’ later this week, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said.

Narendra Modi will pay a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), his third to the Gulf Country, on August 23-24 when he would receive the award.

The Order of Zayed (Zayed Medal) was conferred to the incumbent Indian prime minister in April 2019 for giving a boost to historical and comprehensive strategic ties between India and UAE.

The Prime Minister Modi would receive the Order of Zayed, the highest civil decoration of the UAE which was conferred earlier in April 2019 in recognition of the distinguished leadership of Prime Minister Modi for giving a big boost to bilateral relations between the two countries,” said a statement by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

It is worth noting that the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been in hot water since his government resorted to an illegal move on August 5 to scrap the Special Status of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, contravening the United Nations Resolutions and Geneva Convention.

Modi has, since then, also been facing a severe backlash from across the world for imposing a curfew in the Indian Occupied Kashmir, placing Kashmiri leaders under detention, cutting off all communication, and depriving the people therein of their basic civil rights.

Both the UN Security Council – for the first time after over five decades – and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) – of which UAE is also a member – held meetings on Kashmir. These global organizations denounced the India’s unilateral and illegal move to repeal Kashmir’s Special Status and voiced serious concerns over gross human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
