IranIranian Navy ships equipped with drones: Iranian commander

TEHRAN: Iranian Navy ships are equipped with drones capable of flying over the sea to fulfill naval operations, a senior Iranian Navy commander said on Saturday.

“All of our [Navy] vessels are equipped with drones and all of them have the capability to fly over the sea to fulfill naval operations,” Iran’s Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said in a press conference in Tehran on Saturday.

Sayyari further said that Iran plans to unveil the indigenous Fateh submarine by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (ending March 20, 2014).

Iran has so far launched different classes of advanced submarines including Ghadir, Qaem and Nahang. Iran’s Navy also launched the super-heavy Tareq 901 submarine, overhauled by Iranian experts.
