NEW YORK: The foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia held a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York and discussed the threat posed by the Islamic State militant group.
Following the meeting, the, Iranian foreign minister Muhammad Javad Zarif said the meeting will have a positive impact on restoring peace and security in the region and the world at large. He said that it will also safeguard interests of all Muslim nations.
The Saudi foreign minister Prince Saud al-Faisal, referring to the Islamic State’s onslaught in Iraq and Syria, said that we must avoid the errors of the past to successfully confront the current crisis.
