Erdoğan acknowledges sacrifices of Pakistan Army in fight against terrorism and militancy

Turkey, Ankara: President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has acknowledged sacrifices made by Pakistan Army in fight against terrorism and militancy.

He congratulated Pakistan Army for his successes to flush out terrorism from the country during his meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan General Qamar Javed Bajwa here on Wednesday.

Both discussed matters of mutual interest and regional security while Pakistan Chief of Armed forces General Qamar Javed Bajwa thanked the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for perennial Turkish support to Pakistan and its role in bringing peace and stability in the region.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that Islamic countries could (can) contribute immensely towards global peace and stability and OIC offers a platform to do that through conflict resolution and dialogue. He said that Pakistan plays a very important role towards that end and multi faceted cooperation between the two brotherly countries will have a positive influence. Both noted that Turkey and Pakistan can always count on each other’s unconditional and sincere support.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Turkish Defence Minister Fikri ISIK

Meanwhile Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan Army General Qamar Javed Bajwa who is on an official visit to Turkey,  called  on  Defence Minister Fikri ISIK today and both agreed upon the tremendous potential for cooperation in the fields of security policies, defence production and human resource training. Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkey, Mr Sohail was also present during the meeting.

Earlier General Bajwa also visited Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) where he was given a presentation about production of helicopters and UAVs. He visited the facility and took an introductory flight in T129 attack helicopter.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
