BAKU, Azerbaijan: The Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister Wei Fenghe has reiterated his Country’s support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan State News Agency AZERTAC reported.
In a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense Colonel General Zakir Hasanov held in Beijing, Wei Fenghe noted that relations between China and Azerbaijan have a long history, and at the present stage they are developing in accordance with the interests of the two peoples.
Wei Fenghe emphasized that the One Belt and One Road initiative, put forward by the Chinese President Xi Jinping, created a new opportunity for China-Azerbaijan cooperation in various fields. He emphasized that Azerbaijan is active in the implementation of this initiative.
The Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister Zakir Hasano was in China to attend the 9th Beijing Xiangshan Forum held at the Beijing International Convention Center in Beijing.
Colonel General Zakir Hasanov expressed gratitude for the Chinese invitation and noted that the friendly relations established historically between the two peoples play the role of a strong foundation in the development of ties between the two countries.
Thanking China for its continued support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov noted that Azerbaijan also supports the “United China” policy and recognizes organizations representing China in the international arena.
Separately as part of his visit, Zakir Hasanov also met the representatives of Chinese “Poly Technologies” and “CETC International” Companies in Beijing.
During the meeting, the sides discussed military-technical cooperation between Azerbaijan and China.

Meanwhile, the Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister Zakir Hasano attended the 9th Beijing Xiangshan Forum in Beijing.
More than 1,300 people including 76 official delegations, defense ministers from 23 countries, representatives and scholars from international organizations as well as observers of various countries attended the forum.
With the theme of “Maintaining International Order and Promoting Peace in the Asia-Pacific,” the event covered a wide range of topics such as relations between major powers, the interests of small and medium-sized countries and international security, maritime security, as well as artificial intelligence and future warfare.
Initiated in 2006, the Beijing Xiangshan Forum has been dedicated to promoting exchanges and cooperation among defense authorities, armed forces, international organizations and scholars.
