LAHORE, Pakistan: The seminar on ‘Be A Genius ! Move Ahead, Make A Difference – Let Nothing Stand in Your Way” Make this earth Planet 5050 by 2030 was arranged by the Youth Revolution Clan in collaboration with United Nations Inter Agency Network on Youth development’s Working Group on Youth and Gender, University of Central Punjab School of Media and Communication Studies and Cultural Infusion at University of Central Punjab Lahore The event is also the campaign under the 92Y Genius Week Celebrations.

The event aimed at generating a debate to motivate the young men and women to Move Ahead and make a difference for to achieve the Gender Equality Goal of the United Nations.

International scholars including Sowaba Shehzad (CEO SAAS Syenrgie GmBh), Amna Chuadhry (Founder National Outreach Program), Maliha Sami (Communication Head Sheild Pakistan), Asjad Ghani (DG Protocol Punjab), Shaista Pervaiz Malik (MNA), Rizwan Anwar (Global Youth Advocate United Nations), Asfand Yaar (President YRC) and DR Mughees ud Din Shiekh  addressed the seminar.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to discuss the challenges that Pakistani women face. After all, Pakistani women have won Nobel Prizes and Oscars; they have scaled Mount Everest and play cricket in international tournaments; one is a war-ready fighter pilot, another is an elite police commando. Women have served as this country’s prime minister, federal ministers, and speakers and members of national and provincial assemblies. Turn on the television, and between female news anchors and feisty heroines in serialized dramas, you’d think gender inequality was yesterday’s news. But a few celebrated women and celebrities cannot make up for the reality of women’s experience in Pakistan. Female labour force participation is gradually increasing, but hovers at about 25pc, up from 19pc a decade ago, according to World Bank statistics. Woeful female labor force participation statistics point to other poor indicators in terms of women’s educational attainment, nutrition levels, poverty, health and family planning.

Sowaba Shehzad said that her inspiration was the Islamic Norms and Culture , which she adopted to succeed in her life. Shaista Pervaiz added that government is starting by setting ambitious female employment targets, and introducing reforms to ensure women have the right to equal pay and non-discriminatory hiring.

Dr. Mughees ud Din Sheikh Shed a Light on the Importance of Gender Equality and rightly point towards the Women empowerment.

Rizwan Anwar Global Youth Advocate of United Nations urge  the participants to move ahead and make a difference by their actions that should be started with themselves first , he added the issue of gender inequality cannot be addressed without the help of men. It affects men as much as it affects women and by collective efforts in right directions we can achieve United Nations Sustainable Development Goal for Gender Equality.
