BlogsWhat Should Be Your Summer Skincare Routine?

Skin is a sensitive organ. Minute changes in the weather can have drastic effects on it. As the skin is the outer covering of the body, it is most vulnerable to infections. Skin infections are very common in Pakistan.

A study conducted by a local hospital shows high statistics of skin disease with a wide diversity spread. According to this study, a total of 95, 983 patients visited the dermatology department in one year. These numbers are for one metropolitan city of the country. They are however enough to show the scope of skin problems in Pakistan,

Summers are hard on the skin because of the intense heat. Rashes and sunburns are particularly common in the summers. The pores of the skin open up because of excessive sweating. As a result, the bacteria get all the open sites they need to attack.

In this article, we are giving you some skin care tips that should cover you for the upcoming blazing summer.

  1. Sun-screen

A lot of people love summers because of the excess sunlight. Unfortunately, enhanced exposure to sunlight is bad for the skin. Sunlight has ultraviolet rays which are high in energy. When absorbed by the skin, these rays not only cause sunburn but can trigger cancer too. UV rays also have a negative effect on the immune system.

To avoid sunburn, you should use a sun-screen in summers. Sun-Screen is only effective for two hours. So, you should wash and re-apply every two hours to get the full benefits. It is even better if you use a sun-screen prescribed by a dermatologist, instead of buying one on a whim.

  1. Cleanser

Sweating is a common thing in summers. The pores of the skin open whenever you sweat. Since pores are open, the dirt and germs get trapped into them and seep into the deeper layers. As a result, rashes and infections appear.

A good foam-based cleanser is the best way to deal with this. You should cleanse your face at least twice a day during summers to get rid of all the germs. You can also use a mixture of crushed cucumber and milk as a cleanser. With this homemade cleanser, you will not have to worry about any side effects which come with commercially produced products.

  1. Moisturizer

The skin also loses a lot of moisture in summers due to excessive sweating. To tackle this problem, use a hydrating agent to moisturize your skin. Although a lot of moisturizers are available in the market, there is nothing like Aloe Vera gel. The best time to moisturize during summers is at night. Hydrating masks are also fit for this purpose.

  1. Hydration

Water is your best friend during the summers. Keeping yourself hydrated not only improves your skin, but it also has numerous benefits for your overall health. According to experts, eight glasses or two liters of water are enough to replenish the body’s lost water through sweating.

Summers are hard in Pakistan because of the extreme weather. The skin gets affected the most since it is on display. The tips mentioned in this article should be able to help your skin to cope with the blazing summers. They, however, are not the cures for skin diseases. In case, you acquire an infection or a rash, see a doctor as soon as possible.
