US to pull out all troops from Afghanistan by end of 2016

WASHINGTON: The US President Barack Obama has announced that 9,800 US troops would remain in Afghanistan after this year while all the troops will be pulled out from the war-torn country by the end of 2016.

However, he said, that the US will keep its troops in Afghanistan next year if the government in Kabul signs the bilateral security agreement with the United States.

Obama said that by the end of 2016 the US presence in Afghanistan would be cut to a normal embassy presence with a security assistance office in Kabul, as was done in Iraq.
