PakistanUS concerned over killing of innocent people in Indian-held Kashmir

WASHINGTON/ISLAMABAD: The United States has expressed concern on killing of innocent people at the hands of Indian troops in the occupied Kashmir.

“Obviously, we’re concerned about the violence,” the US State Department Spokesperson John Kirby said in a daily press briefing in Washington on July 11 in reference to the killing of about 30 people in Indian-held Kashmir by forces.

John Kirby said that all sides to the Kashmir issue need to make efforts for finding a peaceful solution to the issue.

“We encourage all sides to make efforts towards finding a peaceful resolution,” he said.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the United Nations Secretary General said during a regular briefing in New York that Ban Ki-Moon also had concern over the situation in occupied Kashmir.

On the other hand, protest is continuing in occupied Kashmir against the ongoing killing spree unleashed by Indian security forces following the martyrdom of Hurriyat leader Burhan Wani.

In a joint statement, the Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik have extended call for the strike for another two days from on Tuesday.
