RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Commander Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan General John Nicholson on Wednesday held a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi.
In a press release, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the two dignitaries discussed regional security issues and matters of mutual interest including border management mechanism along Pak-Afghanistan border and way forward for lasting peace in Afghanistan during the meeting.
John Nicholson lauded the role of Pakistan Armed Forces in breaking the nexus of terrorists and efforts for bringing peace in the region.
In a separate press release, the ISPR said that Corps Commander Rawalpindi Lt General Malik Zafar Iqbal visited various areas in Azad Jammu and Kashmir today ahead of elections.
During his visit, he visited army troops who have been requisitioned by the government and Election Commission of AJK for assistance in conduct of safe and secure general elections scheduled on July 21, 2016.
