ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Uzbekistan has donated 25 metric tons of protective gear and medicines to Pakistan as an aid to fight the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

The Charge D’affaires at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan Lt. Colonel Sadullah Tashmotov handed over the consignment to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).Uzbekistan - Uzbekistan has donated 25 metric tons of protective gear and medicines to Pakistan as an aid to fight the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Since February 16, a total of 259,998 people have been infected in Pakistan by the Novel Coronavirus while 5,475 have succumbed to it, making it the 12th most affected Country around the World. However in recent days, the Country has witnessed a decline in number of Coronavirus Cases as on June 19, it registered 6,604 Cases and now the number has plunged to 2,085 as recorded on July 16. In a statement on Twitter, Prime Minister Imran Khan said Pakistan is amongst the fortunate Countries where COVID-19 Cases in hospitals especially in intensive care and the death rate have gone down unlike in our unfortunate neighbor India. The prime minister said that this positive trend has been the result of our smart lockdown policy and the nation observing government's standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The consignment of medical equipment to fight the COVID-19 reached Pakistan through a Special Plane.

Since February 26, a total of 259,998 people have been infected in Pakistan by the Novel Coronavirus while 5,475 have succumbed to it, making it the 12th most-affected Country around the World.

However in recent days, the Country has witnessed a decline in the number of Coronavirus Cases as on June 19, it registered 6,604 Cases and now the number has plunged to 2,085 as recorded on July 16.
