BAKU, Azerbaijan: In an extraordinary Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (Turkic Council) to be held on Friday, the leaders will take stock of measures to combat the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, according to the Azerbaijan’s Report News Agency.
The leaders will participate in the Summit through Video Link.
The Summit on the COVID-19 is being held on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Chairman of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States Ilham Aliyev.
The leaders of five Turkic Council Member States will take part in the Video Conference including Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The event will also be attended by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Turkic Council Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev and the Worth Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
The presidents will discuss measures taken at the national level on fighting against Coronavirus pandemic, development of multilateral cooperation in healthcare and solving common problems caused by COVID-19 outbreak in the region.
They will also hold discussions on ways to overcome the negative impact of the deadly infection on the national and global economies.
The leaders are expected to adopt a Joint Declaration at the end of the Summit.
